Thursday, January 21, 2021, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released data on the total population of Indonesia from the 2020 Population Census. It was recorded that the total population of Indonesia reached 270,203,917 people.
Head of BPS, Suhariyanto said that this figure has increased compared to the position of the population in the last census in 2010. At that time, BPS noted that the total population of Indonesia was around 237.63 million.
In North Sulawesi Province, the results of the 2020 Population Census of North Sulawesi Province were released by Plt. Head of North Sulawesi Province BPS, Norma Olga Frida Regar. The BPS of North Sulawesi Province recorded that the population of North Sulawesi Province in September 2020 was around 2.62 million people. With a land area of North Sulawesi Province of 13,892 square km, the population density of North Sulawesi Province is 189 people per square km. During 2010 - 2020, the average population growth rate of North Sulawesi Province was 1.40 percent.
When broken down by sex, it was recorded that 1.34 million people or around 51.18 percent were male and 1.32 million people or around 48.82 percent were female. So, the Sex Ratio of North Sulawesi Province is 105, which means that there are 105 male residents for 100 female residents.
In terms of age groups, the composition of the population according to age groups in North Sulawesi Province, the results of the 2020 Population Census show that 72.28 percent of the population is in the productive age group (15-64 years). While the remaining 27.72 percent of the population is in the non-productive age group (0-14 years and 64 years and over).
