Statistical activities such as surveys and compilation of administrative products (compromise) are not only carried out by BPS, but can also be carried out by other government agencies. UU no. 16 of 1997 concerning Statistics mandates that BPS and government agencies coordinate the administration of statistics. One form of coordination in the implementation of this statistic is through the “Recommendations for Statistical Activities”.
Recommendations for statistical activities are suggestions and inputs given by BPS to the design of statistical activities submitted by Ministries/Institutions/Regional Apparatus Organizations (K/L/OPD) to BPS.
Furthermore, this recommendation mechanism is regulated through PP No. 51 of 1999, which states that every sectoral statistical survey operator is obliged to:
Notify the plan for conducting the survey to BPS;
Following the recommendations given by BPS;
Submit the survey conducted to BPS.
One of the tasks of BPS as a builder of statistical data is to provide recommendations in the planning process for BPS data collection (Perpres No.39/2019 concerning One Indonesian Data).
In the process of providing recommendations for statistical activities, BPS first conducts an examination of the design of statistical activities submitted by K/L/OPD to BPS, for which a recommendation letter will be issued.
The purpose of this statistical activity recommendation mechanism is to avoid duplication of statistical activities. The active role of government agencies in reporting statistical activities to BPS is very helpful for BPS in realizing a reliable, effective, and efficient National Statistics System (SSN).
For this reason, BPS North Sulawesi Province held an Internalization of Statistical Recommendations on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. This activity was officially opened by the Head of BPS North Sulawesi Province.
